Jim Scott Photography — www.jimscottphotography.co.uk
This website is run by Jim Scott, a private individual and non-professional photographer based in the UK. I use this site purely to share my photography — it has no commercial purpose.
Although the site is non-commercial, it does collect a small amount of data automatically through Squarespace (the platform that hosts it), and through the contact form if you choose to use it. This notice explains what that data is and how it is handled.
1. What data is collected
Automatically by Squarespace
When you visit the site, Squarespace automatically collects basic technical information, including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time of visit. This is standard for any website and is used solely to keep the site running and to provide basic visitor statistics. I do not have access to personally identifiable information from this data.
Via the contact form
If you use the contact form, you will provide your name, email address, and whatever message you choose to write. I use this information only to respond to you. I do not store it beyond our correspondence, share it with anyone, or use it for any other purpose.
2. Cookies
Squarespace places cookies on your device to help the site function and to collect the basic analytics described above. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. For more information visit www.aboutcookies.org. Squarespace’s own cookie policy is at squarespace.com/cookie-policy.
3. Lawful basis for processing
Under UK GDPR, I rely on the following lawful bases:
• Legitimate interests — for the technical data Squarespace collects automatically, in order to keep the site secure and functioning.
• Consent — when you voluntarily submit the contact form, you consent to me using your details to reply. You can withdraw this consent at any time by contacting me and asking me to delete your information.
4. How long I keep your data
Contact form messages and email correspondence are kept only as long as needed to respond to your enquiry, and are not retained beyond that. Squarespace retains technical/analytics data for up to 26 months in line with their standard practices.
5. Sharing your data
I do not share, sell, or pass your personal data to any third parties. The only exception is Squarespace, which processes data on my behalf purely to host this website.
6. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
• Ask what personal data I hold about you
• Ask me to correct or delete it
• Object to how it is being used
• Withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis for processing
To exercise any of these rights, please get in touch via the contact page.
7. Complaints
If you have a concern about how I handle your data, please contact me in the first instance. If you remain unhappy, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
8. Links, images and copyright
This site may contain links to other websites. This privacy notice applies only to jimscottphotography.co.uk. All photographs displayed on this website are the copyright of Jim Scott and may not be downloaded, reproduced, or used in any form without my express written permission.
9. Changes to this notice
I may update this notice from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
